Custom Resistor Manufacturing: A Guide

When there is a requirement of electricity to be controlled and have the current flow in a given way, the best and easiest way to do so is by use of resistors. A resistor is basically built in such a way that it will help control current by being made in such a way that inside it, ions will collide with electrons thereby slow the flow of electricity. By doing so, current ends up being lowered and heat is produced. There are many uses of resistors and there is need to note them down. It is also wise to note that resistors can also be customized.

The first main use of a resistor is in building LEDs. This is because an current is supposed to flow in a single direction. A resistor comes in handy in order to achieve this. This is because a transistor or an LED is quite sensitive to current and too much of it may end up destroying it. For that reason, making use of a resistor will help pass the exact current suitable for them.

Another use of a resistor is in timing and frequency. This is more so because many circuit designs are made in a way that a resistor is connected to a capacitor meant to provide a timing source. A good example is in electronic sirens and even light flashers that happen to rely on this kind of a technology. This is because charge works like filling water in a container. Since it takes time to fill that container with water, it works the same way as when one is filling up a capacitor. Read more about the custom power resistor.

Resistors can also be used in heating. This can be explained by the fact that these resistors do produce heat when current passes through them. As a result, they play a major role in the manufacture heaters, toasters, electric ovens and such similar devices. Most of these devices are such as those that we do use at home for various purposes.

It is also good to note that resistors are very useful in dividing voltage. When resistors are connected together, they form a series that can then be used to divide voltage in a given equipment. If these resistors are of the same value, voltage can be expected to drop equally. This is usually determined by the amount of resistance experienced. This is a technique used in components that need to operate at a lesser voltage that that which has been supplied by an input.
